Publisher Description:
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. A rocket design can be as simple as a cardboard tube filled with black powder, but to make an efficient, accurate rocket or missile involves overcoming a number of difficult problems. The main difficulties include cooling the combustion chamber, pumping the fuel (in the case of a liquid fuel), and controlling and correcting the direction of motion. Rockets consist of a propellant, a place to put propellant, such as a propellant tank, and a nozzle. Rocket engines employ the principle of jet propulsion. This book studies rocket design including nose cones, navigation system, flame holder, cold gas thruster, and solid fuel rocket. Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge.
