No foreign barrister in 600 years had been permitted to do so before. In 1921 he was nominated by Warren G. Harding to be the Solicitor General. Beck served until his resignation in 1925. He was elected in 1927 as Congressional Representative from Pennsylvania, filling the vacancy caused by the resignation of James M. Hazlett. |
