Part of the book is dedicated to describing the principles and processes of the culture of silk, including the growth of the mulberry tree, the rearing and management of silkworms, and the collections and sorting of silk. The final part of the book describes and explains the manufacture of silk, from the reeling and throwing to the many different processes, mechanisms and machinery involved in producing silk fabrics. There is also a chapter on the chemical, medical, and electrical properties of silk. Many of the earliest books on weaving, textiles and needlework, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce an
