The best known incarnation of the story The Little Engine That Could is attributed to Watty Piper with illustrations by Lois Lenski, this retelling of the tale The Pony Engine appeared in 1930. Other children[s books published using the pseudonym Watty Piper include: Children[s Hour with Red Riding Hood and Other Stories (1922), Animal Friends Story Book (1928), Fairy Tales Children Love (1932) and Bumper Book (1946).
