The main character, a boy called Shane, goes to visit his grandmother's home. Shane's grandmother has a beautiful garden that fascinates him. Shane decides to walk around the garden as he often does when visiting his grandmother. As Shane walks around the garden on this day he notes the absence of the birds, the butterflies, and the bees. Shane is still hopeful that he might find other garden visitors because his grandmother had said that there are always visitors in her garden. Shane continues his walk through the garden and it's not long before he finds a frog nestled among the mulch in the garden. Shane is excited; he admires the frog but leaves it undisturbed. Once Shane finds the frog he starts thinking of other secrets that grandma's garden might be concealing and he starts anticipating his next visit to grandma's garden.
