He was sent to the United States for his studies, and it was there that he made his transition to adulthood, becoming active intellectually, sexually, and politically. His intellectual activities soon landed him in prison, and as his country crumbled before his eyes, he reluctantly moved back to the US permanently in 1986. He is the director of Iranian studies at Stanford University and codirector of the Iran Democracy Project at the Hoover Institution. Milani has written for publications including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Forbes and has appeared on CNN, the BBC, and NPR, among others. He lives in California. Simon Vance is an award-winning actor and an AudioFile Golden Voice with over forty Earphones Awards. He has won thirteen prestigious Audie Awards and was Booklist's very first Voice of Choice in 2008. He has narrated more than eight hundred audiobooks over almost thirty years, beginning when he was a radio newsreader for the BBC in London. |
