Publisher Description:
The dig crew of an archaeological site located on high rocky ground over Ein Gedi, an ancient historic oasis settlement on the Dead Sea shore, is uncovering evidence from pottery shards and papyrii that challenge the accepted understanding of the Essene sect and the Qumron scrolls. The focus of the dig crew is on understanding an ancient people's life-ways. But even before anything they discover is published, they find themselves faced with a mysterious enemy's death-ways. First, the dig's Land Rover is blown up. Then automatic weapons' fire destroys the dig's generator. It all rapidly escalates out of control. The dig's head, Ben Haney, and his niece, Digger Sutton, must rely upon two men of the dig staff, a retired Marine Gunner from Force Recon and a one-time SOCOM specialist, a linguist who was frequently assigned to spec ops missions. They would form the core of the dig's defense. To survive, the staff must meet the force arrayed against them with a force of their own. In the struggles, some find love, some find death, and all find intrigue. What possible reason can anyone have for stopping the dig? What evil force is arrayed against them? The answers will be found in their struggles to survive. This is a tale of love, of blood, and of courage.
