Publisher Description:
Mr. Ed Yrisarri is a Catholic Chaplain in the Tarrant County, Texas jails. He has listened to the laments, stories, excuses, rationalizations, and pleadings of many incarcerated persons and has ministered to their fears, anxieties, apprehensions, and pleadings for forgiveness - typical of inmates wherever imprisoned. This book, encompasses a series of intimate true to life conversations between a ministering chaplain and individual inmates. A short discourse follows each one-on-one conversation elaborating on the specific topic of discussion. These topics involve some of the most basic spiritual questions of any person - incarcerated or not. The contents develop a down-to-earth philosophy on each topic that would be of interest to any layperson who basically wonders about their own current spiritual situation; i.e. who they are, from whence they come, why they are here, and what eventually becomes of them. The book is primarily intended for active prison/jail chaplains, current inmates, their parents and relatives, pastors, ministers, priests, and deacons. The topics discussed would also be of general interest to spiritually concerned populations. Prior to this prison ministry, Mr. Yrisarri spent 28-years as an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist comforting the terminally ill, hospital ICU patients, homebound persons, those in assisted living units, and convalescent home patients. By contrasting backgroud, Mr. Yrisarri earned a BSEE degree from the University of New Mexico and has spent a career as a registered professional engineer in control systems engineering. In 1993 he was presented with the Outstanding Alumnus Award for Computer and Electrical Engineering from his Alma Mater, UNM. Mr. Yrisarri is a three-time combat veteran of the Korean War.
