| Publisher Description: Star Island, one of nine islands that form the Isles of Shoals, lies six miles off the coast of its governing township of Rye, New Hampshire. Rich with centuries of human history, the island has hosted religious and educational conferences established by the Unitarians and the Congregationalists since 1897. Cann is a member of the Star Island Corporation and a park ranger for the National Park Service, working in the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area. Gayle Kadlik is the former curator of the Vaughn Cottage Museum on Star Island and a descendant of John Downs, author of Sprays of Salt: Reminiscences of a Native Shoaler. Both Donald and Gayle coauthored Images of America: Isles of Shoals. |
