Publisher Description:
In 1977 through 1979 the Fenter Family, Kenneth, Lora, Philip and Janelle travelled from Springfield, Oregon to Isahaya, Japan. Located near Nagasaki on Kyushu, the southern Island of Japan, Isahaya was a small town with very little contact with Americans. Ken and Lora were there to teach in Chinzei Gakuin a private junior college and high school. Philip 12 and Janelle 9 entered the local public schools. Almost immediately the children attracted attention and families invited them and their parents into their homes. The Fenters established an open house once a week for anyone in the community to come and speak English without charge. Over the course of the first year they made friends and learned how to adjust to living in a foreign country. That story was related in the book Gaijin Gaijin. Mo Ichido: Once More is about the second year of that stay. With lessons learned in the first year the family expands their horizons and travels by car and youth hostel, explores deepening friendships and delves further into the Japanese culture.
