Emma Flint was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in northeast England. She graduated from the University of St. Andrews with an MA in English language and literature and is a graduate of the Faber Academy writing program in London. Since her childhood, she has read true-crime accounts, developing an encyclopedic knowledge of real-life murder cases and of notorious historical figures, as well as a fascination with unorthodox women-past, present, and fictional. She works as a technical writer in London.

Lauren Fortgang, a graduate of Fordham University's Theater Program, is an actress, costume designer, and narrator. She has recorded everything from video games to textbooks. Her audiobook narrations have earned AudioFile Earphones Awards and placed her as a finalist for an Audie Award in 2014.
