Publisher Description: Galatians 3:26-29 declares that all in Christ are sons of God, implying that women have leadership and authority in the Spirit. 1Timothy 2:11-15, however, limits a woman's authority. This tension cannot be removed because an honest exegesis and interpretaion of 1Timothy 2:11-15 shows that it is based upon a principle of God's truth. The tension between these two texts is an eschatological one. 1Timothy 2:11-15 is based upon the created order of this present age, whereas Galatians 3:26-29 is based upon the spiritual order of the age to come (the age of the Spirit), but we must live in both ages. The more the Church lives in the Spirit, however, the less significant the created order becomes and more it is able to be ordered by Galatians 3:26-29. Whatever view you have on this subject, this book contains a wealth of information, analysis, and insight and makes for a great reference and teaching tool. |
