Publisher Description: This is a double (2-books-in-one) 29 page copy of the first Seabee Recruiting Book. This format, of 2 books in one, was designed as a value-added product for book retailers. They get two books for the price of one. However, cutting the book by the customer horizontally is required to render the two books. During World War Two, the Seabees were established as the newest part of the Navy. To get skilled tradesmen, they went to construction sites and factories handing out these booklets. They offered advance rates commensurate with the tradesman's experience. A recruiting truck led the way. This truck contained a diorama showing a typical Seabee beach head in the Pacific. |
