Publisher Description:
From childhood, through adulthood and into the beginning of her older years, Patty Sabatier traces for us, with the story of her life, how imagination and emotion led her to wholeness and integrity. Using a Jungian spirituality and art, she walked a journey to the healing of her bipolar mental illness. She learned to view mental illness as a gift of sensitivity. Patty uses a rational story line of her life to show us her lived experience of irrational encounters with the unconscious dimensions of self. Patty's book is written for people who struggle with mental illness, their families and the therapy team. With specific guidelines, she encourages a Jungian approach to mental illness. Her meditations at the end of the book reveal her spiritual struggle and journey in poetic prose.Patty Sabatier is a first time author who is an RN with a BS degree in Nursing who has practiced for 43 years. She is a native of Louisiana and resident of California for the past 11 years. Presently she is a public health nurse for a county HIV program where she is doing outreach to at risk populations. Patty is successful as a manager of several grants in this area of nursing services. She also is a speaker with the Tulare County No Stigma Speakers Bureau which aims to end the silence and stigma of mental illness. Patty is in the process of starting a recovery support group for persons with mental illness who seek to use creativity to deal with difficult emotions.
