Will Clive believe them if they return? http: //readersfavorite.com/book-review/29702 5 out of 5 Star Review April 3, 2014 Reviewed by Mamta Madhavan for Readers' Favorite The Dare by Terri L. Kovalcik takes children on an adventurous trip along with the main characters of the story, Jorral and Clemens. Jorral and Clemens are told to find the magician's house and bring back something from there for their leader, Clive, in order to join the club. These two kids decide to take the dare and meet the dangers lurking at every turn on their way to the club. It is is a whimsical journey through the dense mystical Barak forest which sees the kids face a lot of obstacles on their way to the magician's house. Will Clive be impressed with them and let them join the club? "An adventurous story bordering on whimsy, cuteness, and quirkiness, this book is an interesting read for all children. The journey with Jorral and Clemens through the dense forest, the mushroom patch, the swamp, soldiers riding horses, and many more adventures the duo must face will enthrall young readers. The illustrations add to the appeal and clarity of the story. They lend color and vivacity to the characters and give a sense of movement to the unfolding of events. The theme revolves around the popular game 'Truth or Dare' and in this story the boys are dared by the club leader to do the impossible. Children will love this and they will be able to relate to the dare theme very well because it is a game they play with their friends. It is a book that I would recommend parents and educators to have in their personal collections and libraries."
