When eight year old Bug goes on vacation with her mom, she kick-starts events that will change the rest of her life. While attempting to explore a cave, against her mom's advice, she slips on a wet rock, knocks herself dizzy, and falls into the solid black water. She comes to just as she starts to drown. Naturally, she starts to panic, but, stops when she sees a boy swimming toward her. He came out of nowhere, and pulls the water out of her lungs before helping her climb back to the cave. When she gates there, she passes out, and comes to alone. Her mom tries to make her believe that the boy she saw wasn't real, that he was just a figment of her imagination, but, she's wrong. deep in her heart, she knows he was real. The boy with the magic kiss. The boy swims home to face the wrath of his father for going to the lagoon without permission. He could've been seen. He's punished and restricted to the Palace for the next eight years. He plane to go back when he becomes a man, but, war breaks out, and he can no longer go to the lagoon in daylight. Convinced he'll never see her again, he puts himself on the front lines. But, his heart won't let her go, believing that he will see her again. The girl with the rainbow eyes. When a supposedly easy score goes horribly wrong, Bug finds herself with no choice but to go back to the place that's called to her since she was a kid. Dark Water. But, this time, she's addicted to a drug called Lo-lo, and no longer believes what she sees. It deals a heavy blow to the boy's feelings, but, he's a man now, and finds a way to get over it. HE also finds a way to get her off the drugs. As she becomes accustomed to life in the water, she gets closer to him, and he to her. It seems like a good thing, but, it actually might not be. Since Bug came back, Masaru has forgotten about something, or rather, someone, very important. The Kintiku. The Human the prophecy speaks of.. The one who will restore the Red Tide. Masaru has to find her, get her to fall in love with him. Not an easy task with Bug around, especially since everyone who sees her thinks she's the Kintiku, including his father. HE believes it so much that he wants to put the crown of the Kintiku on her. That's not good. He can't let him do that, because if she wears that crown, he may just have to kill her.
