While the idea might be novel, it is his memoirs that will ultimately justify the pricing in the long run, an accomplishment that not too many artists have. All artists struggle, wondering how to make ends meet while doing their art. As an artist, I went to figure drawing sessions until I got really good at drawing naked bodies. I thought the next stage in learning was to be able to touch the body. I had also been on television and print for my activism through art. I needed to up the ante. As a writer, then, I already had a monthly column on the arts. I was ready for my next move. I wanted to write books-memoirs and related stories. I became a masseur to kill two, or even ten, birds with one stone. To touch the body and improve my figurative art and pay the rent.
