Publisher Description:
Worlds collide when a sheltered fairy princess from another realm becomes displaced in an Enchanted Forest full of colorful creatures, where she "learns the ropes" of her new life, until she can return home someday.Urban Fairytales(TM) is a children's series with a modern twist of cautionary fairytales and fables. It's main objective is to inspire kids with a better sense of themselves and the world. Centered around a free-spirited fairy princess from another realm, Libby Fiddlehead, comes to earth through a magic portal that opened once in time when she made a wish. She becomes "trapped" on Earth. She learns to make the forest her new home. Through experience, she gains knowledge, confidence, and discovers new things about herself, such as her artistic and musical abilities, as she finds her place in the forest community. This story is unique in that it addresses anyone who feels different and is trying to fit in (Libby is literally and metaphorically green). The heroine strives to break some stereotypes about girls and princesses. Although the series does use archetypes, (the big bad wolf i.e. Wolfgang), "Sometimes an itch is just an itch, but I've got to scratch " - WolfgangLibby has lost her crown, broken her wand and become somewhat of a "grungy" princess who also gets burst of "super powers" through her flower pin which lights up when she's inspired. "Flower power " She is outspoken, adventurous, brave, creative and a "stranger in a strange land". The stories are about Libby learning to fit into a new "society" where she's also often learning through the "school of hard knocks". It's not just about Libby, it's about all the characters, like K.C. the Gnome, the "original hipster", Jelly Raccoon, and many more.
