Publisher Description:
The story is set in the 1700's and being told through that of a young poacher by the name of Sam Hope. A young boy from the North-East of England, who aged sixteen found himself press-ganged on to a visiting naval ship. Torn away from his former life and family, as so many others were in the day and age of wooden sailing ships, simply to serve the needs of the fleet and its large navy. He soon found out that despite having far worse food to eat, as well as fewer options allowed. His new life aboard was also showing him a lot more than he could ever have once imagined. Far away from the local forests, where he had once both roamed and hunted. Finally, upon being left marooned upon the almost unknown coast of America by the jealous captain of a pirate ship. Older he may have been, perhaps even by now a little wiser than when young also; but he was also about to find himself beginning yet another new way of life. Although this time, one where he knew very little at all about anything to do with the peoples and country which would lie all around him. Would he even be able to survive in this harsh wilderness . . .
