Publisher Description: To help Mozambique's coastal cities become climate resilient, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is investing $4 million in the Climate Change Urban Adaptation program to support activities that increase understanding of climate change impacts and strengthen municipal adaptive capacity and climate readiness. Partners include local municipal government authorities, communities, civic organizations, and academic institutions. Activities will include working with coastal cities to develop early warning systems and to strengthen planning and zoning in response to sea level rise and other climate change stresses. Activities will also include work to strengthen the engagement of communities in urban planning mechanisms to build their resilience to climate change. |
