| Publisher Description: The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is providing $6.7 million in support of Mexico's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+). These funds will support the government of Mexico in developing and implementing a national REDD+ strategy and establishing robust methods for monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) of reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. The program will partner with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to provide technical assistance to the government of Mexico and improve models, methods, and tools for MRV. This program will also deliver quantifiable carbon sequestration and avoided emissions through local forest mitigation programs. |
