| Publisher Description: The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is investing $2 million in the Program to Enhance Climate Resiliency and Water Security. USAID will partner with the Maldives Ministry of Housing and Environment, provincial utility service providers, and Island Councils and residents on two northern islands to assess long-term climate vulnerability and develop cost-effective adaptation strategies. The program will support innovative solutions to the growing problem of water scarcity, which is made worse by climate change and sea level rise. The program will assist the Government's goal of developing the standards and criteria for a "climate resilient island" model program that can be replicated throughout the country, and potentially in other small island developing states. |
