Charles attends the slave auction in Boston prior to returning home and is disturbed by the treatment of the slaves. Once again Charles buys all of the slaves but is disturbed by the fact that eight of the slaves are women, and they have been horribly abused. Charles travels to Kansas City and stops in Louisville to see how his old friend, Sheriff Morgan Mann is getting along. Charles finds himself involved in a conflict when a local man decides that Gray Wolf and Swimming Otter shouldn't be there.
