Publisher Description: John Milner Associates, Inc. (JMA), in association with New South Associates, Inc. (NSA), was retained by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) of the U.S. Department of the Interior to prepare a GIS database of known cultural resources/historic properties that could be impacted by the introduction of off-shore energy facilities along the east coast of the United States. Cultural resources/historic properties include buildings, districts, sites, structures, and objects that have been recognized by federal or state government as historically and culturally important and worthy of preservation. The investigation was intended to provide a baseline of cultural information that will inform preliminary planning decisions regarding renewable energy development in the Atlantic Region, and assist in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 in conjunction with specific projects. |
