Publisher Description: Like peeking into a young woman's diary, these true letters written in the 1930's show the growing love of a small town high school art teacher for the friend she left behind at the university. It was the Great Depression. Money was tight, times were hard. Ofa Hayes tried to bring out creativity in her students and herself. She and her friend Michael Chepourkoff married, had a son. The story continued with her pregnancy of a girl who was born at home, Ofa's parent's house in Berkeley, California. The marriage eventually fell apart and ended in divorce. Ofa went on to become a renownd California artist. Illustrated. |
