Publisher Description: In 2008, there were 184 primary wood-processing mills in Indiana, 52 fewer mills than in 2005. These mills processed 68.4 million cubic feet of industrial roundwood, of which 58 million cubic feet was harvested from within the State. Another 5.8 million cubic feet of the industrial roundwood harvested in Indiana was sent to primary wood-processing mills in other states and countries. Saw logs accounted for 89 percent of the total harvest. The harvesting of industrial roundwood products produced 50.6 million cubic feet of harvest residues. Primary wood-processing mills generated 1.03 million green tons of mill residues, with less than 1 percent of the mill residues generated not used for other products |
