Publisher Description:
If the word is mightier than the sword, poetry is the cutting edge. In the Rabbit Hole is a collection of 9 essays, some tongue-in-cheek, and 55 poems that describe the warren of tunnels behind the opening of the rabbit hole. Highly critical of politics, the poems follow more or less the chronological order in which nefarious schemes and deceptions are visited upon the American people. Many of the main characters of recent administrations and the political opposition (Reagan, Bush, the Clintons, Palin, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, and others) are captured between the lines. The eight sections of poetry begin with some thoughts on governance, then turn to the political scene before elections, the warning signs about what transformation lay ahead, the undercurrents of action during successive terms, and eventually add some words of hope that the next administration will get the country back on an even keel. Scattered throughout the text are observations by the author and others about government in general and progressive politics in particular.
