Publisher Description:
In this book, we can understand the justice of God through following three declarations of Korean and World churches: the 'Barmen Theological Declaration' (Germany, 1934), the 'Belhar Confession' of the Dutch Reformed Mission Church (1982/1986) and the 'Kairos document' (1985), In addition, this book presents the 'Theological Declaration of Korean Christians, 1973'. First of all I will analyze the contents of the declarations and assess it in terms of the minjung movements as presented in the text: 'Theological Declaration of Korean Christians' of 1973, the 'Declaration for Democratic National Salvation, 1976'. With respect to this declaration, this book surveys them in terms of the theological, political, social and economical contexts of minjung, and in terms of the role of the Christian leaders of those days. The book analyses the 'Declaration of the churches of Korea on national reunification and peace, 1988'. The political situation of those days became increasingly complicated as time went on. Before church leaders proclaimed the declaration of 1988, approximately 4-5 million protesters who consisted of minjung people and middle class intellectuals and workers, participated in the movements for democracy in Korea. This book will deal with lots of issues and proposals in the declarations.
