Publisher Description:
SybrKombat, a new Cloud-based computer game in which players use cyber weapons to attack and defeat each other, is storming onto the market. It's received rave reviews from gaming magazines because of its unique concept, wide assortment of cyber weapons, and very realistic methods of crippling and destroying an opponent. Cailan Bane, a former Recon Marine sniper and part owner of Imaginarium, a boutique maker of war and street fighter computer games, realizes that to keep up with this new market, they must move their games to a Cloud format. Since there is no "how-to" manual for Cloud-based game design, Osias Lander, Imaginarium's lead game coder, obtains a pirated copy of the SybrKombat source code from a hacker friend. But working in his dual role as Imaginarium's cyber security expert, as well as a top white hat hacker for the FBI, he finds something suspicious in the game's code, and before he can unravel the mystery, his hacker friend is found decapitated, and he's next on the killer's list. Osias discovers that the cyber devastation that occurs in the game is being duplicated by real world attacks, which sends him deep into the source code where he finds that SybrKombat is much more than just a game-it's the key to an insidious conspiracy. While Cailan thwarts the assassins, Osias must unravel the game's mystery code and create a weapon to counter the greatest cyber threat ever unleashed on the United States, knowing that failure could mean the destruction of the country's entire infrastructure.
