Publisher Description:
Success is the achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted. It occurs when we add the right amount of cream and sugar to our coffee, come across something interesting to watch, or find the person we want to spend our life with. Everyone has an idea of what success is, or what it means to them. But is success by itself enough? Can something be paired with success, creating a wonderful marriage of two important elements? The answer is yes, and the partner is fulfillment. While sometimes confused with success, fulfillment is more about purpose than achievement; more about a sense of peace than accomplishment; more about an inner contentment instead of a vehicle parked outside. Without fulfillment, we will always want more, like a person with no stomach signals eating at a buffet. Without fulfillment, we will ask, "Is this all there is?" Without fulfillment, there will be emotions and feelings of emptiness; thoughts and musings that something is missing. Simply put, fulfillment is a level of immense satisfaction, resulting from finding the purpose or reason that something or someone is here. Fulfillment will easily make you feel fully alive, and will cause one of those, "This is what life is about " kinds of experiences. Success does occur when we find the person we want to spend our life with; but fulfillment happens when that person says "Yes " to our proposal. It isn't difficult to find great books, magazines or movies about success. Entire industries have been built around success. Not so for fulfillment. Perhaps fulfillment is harder to grasp, doesn't sell as well, or even worse, we are deluded into thinking that success is all that matters. There could be many reasons for the obvious lack of excellent works detailing both success and fulfillment. While this book does not claim to fill that void, it does describe in detail the principles needed to experience both. Remember, success without fulfillment is empty and unsatisfying; your goal must be both. It would be a tragedy to spend your life working hard pursuing success, only to arrive at the end feeling empty and discontented. A principle is a fundamental truth which serves as a cornerstone for behavior or actions. People who live by principles are people who have structure and standards in their lives. When something unexpected happens, a principled person doesn't re-act; they simply act based on that which is deep within. They respond based on the beliefs and values they hold, which were learned in advance of any crisis or opportunity. In a similar way, when we learn about, understand and apply the principles of success and fulfillment, we are creating a foundation and backbone structure designed to help us think, believe, and act in a manner conducive to both success and fulfillment in life. We all deal with and face problems and issues; some of us on a daily basis. This book is designed to help people contend with and resolve the top five problems of our day: financial (see principle eight), relationships (see principle five), addictions/habits (see principle twelve), time management (see principle four), and health (see principle six). The best way to tackle any or all of these is to be prepared ahead of time. If that's not possible, facing them head on with a clear, attentive mind and a thorough understanding of why they occurred is the best approach. And there's more: it's also about new perspectives (see principle one); about new ways of getting things done (see principle nine): about happiness (see principle seven); about planning ahead (see principle two); about knowing why we behave like we do (see principle ten); about thinking (see principle three); and about character (see principle eleven). This book will help you find answers to your questions. It will inspire you, challenge you, teach you and drive you towards more knowledge, wisdom and understanding, and a life of greater success and fulfillment in everything you do.
