Publisher Description:
Some people will be offended and jump on their high horse simply by reading the title of this book. But they need to carefully consider this - if they are going to choose sides, they might want to give serious thought to which side they are going to align with. If God truly rebukes Calvin and the CESSOGEN people, will they then side with Calvin and the CESSOGENists against God? Many people will read this book and say, "Oh, well. That's just your opinion." Not so. I have carefully tried to avoid giving my opinion throughout. Instead, I have tried to accurately give facts - hard, incontrovertible facts. An opinion is a statement such as, "I like ice cream." Opinions usually start with a phrase like, "I think . . . ." or "I feel . . . ." But if you and I were walking down a path through a forest and I pointed off to the side of the path and said, "Watch it There's a poisonous snake " that would not be my opinion. But if you disbelieved me and said, "Oh, that can't be I think that is just a pile of leaves." That would be opinion. For those of us who have seen the amazing ability of a Copperhead snake to camouflage itself in a pile of leaves, we would intervene however we could to convince him to avoid that danger. And that is exactly what I have tried to do in this book. The Copperhead snake of CESSOGEN has camouflaged itself so that it can lie in wait in the church. But God's Word can easily expose if we take care to read it and take it to heart. The Christian Church is a tangled, disorganized hodge-podge of warring factions. This is not what Christ intended. God left us with an enduring heritage - the Scriptures in Greek and Hebrew. They comprise God's own Word to us - a sure and steady guide . . . if only . . . we could hold fast to His Word - with no compromise, no twisting of the words, no adding to God's Word, and no taking away from God's Word. Dr. Brewster shows how this must be done - by looking at each Scripture passage in its entirety and in its context. Each word must be considered, each thought must be taken at face value. And as you will see as you read this book, it is far easier than "church people" would have you believe. This book flows well and is easily understood. (It is written on about the eighth or ninth grade level.) For anyone who is distraught about the strife in the Church over "church doctrine" and all the competing voices trying to tear down the validity of Scripture, this book is a Godsend.
