Publisher Description: The phenomena, stages of breakthrough or enlightenment have always been myth from ancient times. From Chinese Chan Masters' stories of breakthrough, we are unable to establish a standard to determine if a practitioner has archived enlightenment. Master Q classified breakthroughs into three different levels. The first level is a small breakthrough in which the practitioner only breaks the concentrated point of HuaTou. In the Second level, the practitioner experiences a short period of emptiness in addition to the first level. In the third level, practitioner's self and surrounding environment suddenly disappear and the practitioner enters the absolute emptiness. All three levels were created by practitioner's own energy and Master's Beating & Shouting. The level of breakthrough depends on practitioner's holding power and the meaning of HuaTou. This book establishes Master Q's definition and interpretation of breakthrough. Master Q's students' personal experiences of the breakthrough are also included. |
