Publisher Description:
The opening scene introduces the author in his youth looking back on his childhood years. The story begins with Johnny being loudly awoken in his bedroom by his father one early morning back in the late 1950s. Johnny who was now 9 years old describes his surroundings at the time and how he felt about living with his new step stepmother. His father had just married again after his birth mother whom Johnny loved dearly had passed away at the very young age of 35years old of tuberculosis two years previously. Johnny who was now living with his family at his new stepmother's Council house in Shiregreen, Sheffield South Yorkshire, missed his girlfriend and all the fun he used to have with his pals at his old council house in Parsons Cross, Sheffield. Unfortunately, he now began to hate his new school, Woolley Wood Junior, and especially his new life having to deal with all his stepmother's new house rules, eventually turning into what can only be described as a 'YORKSHIRE REBEL.
