Publisher Description:

Fred Burstein is a poet of moments. He enjoys the woodlands around his home and celebrates them in short, lovely verses. From the poet's sharp eye we learn which way the frog faces ...when the red eft comes out of hiding ... how the wind, rain, sun and snow tickle the senses. We see through the eyes of a child, hear through the mind of a natural man who has spent his entire life amidst turning leaves, red berries, chickadees, bluejays, woodpeckers--and who else do you know who counts the Jack-in-the-Pulpit as a best friend?

Contributor Bio(s): Burstein, Fred: - Fred Burstein has had many jobs over the years: child mower of lawns; teenage plower of snow; adult actor; and elder teacher of the young. But whatever the job, his real work was to write stories and have them become books. This is his sixth published book, and contains stories that grew from living with his family in a tree filled, farm covered, stream swirled land in New York's Catskill Mountains where the nights are dark enough to be filled with stars and quiet enough to enjoy the loud screeches of owls.Burstein, Anna: - Anna Burstein grew up with two major loves: animals and drawing. She has spent most of her life living in upstate New York, enjoying hiking and exploring the Catskill Mountains, as well as currently studying to be a veterinary technician. She plans on spending a lot of time in the future helping animals and creating new works of art. This is the second book that Anna has illustrated, the first being If it Snowed Forever, also by Fred Burstein
