Publisher Description: As a six year old child in Montessori school, one day without warning I saw everyone around me as if we were in a movie. There I was an unobserved participant who wanted to hide. I laid my head down on my desk as I retreated further into myself, creating my own distance from those around me. I'm saying this to give insight into what may have shaped me from a time I don't remember. In this story the main character is left, from early on, feeling of little value. Growing into adulthood, and unaided for her symptoms of abuse, she is captive to dysfunction until discovering real and lasting love in her older age. Finally, she becomes a volunteer working with prisoners. She hears many stories, not so different from her own and contends that not only inmates, but people all over the world are imprisoned and chained, within themselves, due to what is handed down from one family to the next. As for myself, the chains holding me down in the dark cell of my soul were loosened, and I became ready to walk free. |
