| Publisher Description: This book began as an academic study of the various predictions in history of Christ's return. I may yet publish that work, but due to the current interest and misunderstanding of the Seventh Day Adventists, this volume specifically addresses their beliefs and how they differ from Christian doctrine. This book is not presented as a judge of Ben Carson's faith in Christ, but as a look at how his beliefs align with what we know of Adventism in lieu of his presenting as a presidential candidate. "I'm proud of the fact that I believe what God has said, and I've said many times that I'll defend it before anyone," Dr. Carson told the Adventist Report in 2013. "I want them to understand that we're very reasonable people and kind people, but we do have values and principles that we live by, and those are the things God has set forth in his word." So what are these values and principles By which he and other Seventh Day Adventists live? This book focuses on a baker's dozen of their beliefs: -Only those who worship on Saturday can be saved. -All churches other than Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church are teaching lies from the Devil. Only SDA members are true and obedient believers. -Jesus is Michael the Archangel and this is the name used for him (Jesus) in the Old Testament. -Christ's death did not fully atone for our sins. -Jesus is now cleaning the sanctuary (i.e. making atonement) in the heavens before he can return to the earth. -You will have to stand before God for judgment without a mediator. -A person can become sinless while they are still living on this earth in their physical body (sinless perfection). -Jesus Has Already Come in 1844 -The souls of believers in Christ are not in heaven, but are sleeping in the graves (soul sleep). -The wicked will be finally and totally annihilated. They will simply cease to exist after the final judgment. -They do not believe in the eternal punishment of Satan and his fallen angels. -They believe in and demand vegetarianism. -They believe you should revere their founding prophetess, Ellen G. White and that her writings are on par with the Bible. |
