Publisher Description:
King David is the greatest king in the history of Israel and from his line and his father Jesse, all Christians derive their existence through Jesus Christ. A shepherd, solider, king and lover, David was a fully rounded human being chosen by God as a man after his own heart. However, sometimes David's lifestyle did not reflect that of a man of God. Indeed some of his actions, including infidelity and conspiracy to murder, were diametrically opposed to the will of God. Nevertheless God perceived in him a heart that was in the right place and David is testament to us all that, given a right heart attitude, God can use any one of us for great things. In this book I have illustrated some episodes in David's life in a novel form. I have used the Psalms (many of which have been written by David) as the basis for my story and at times I have used robust language. I feel that this is justified as I have tried to contextualise some of the description in a more contemporary setting. The Bible itself contains much 'adult' literature; the Song of Songs is an erotically charged love poem and the Old Testament is also extremely violent. Perhaps my story may whet your appetite for reading it As some strong language is used I would recommend this book for young adults and older. I hope it will help to put some flesh on the biblical facts of David's life and draw out what God saw in such a great man. The story of David has inspired artists and writers over time including Michaelangelo's statue in the Galleria della'Accedamia Florence Italy. The work would take two years of the artists life to complete.
