Publisher Description:
'Young earth life warriors - no worries' is a book designed for pre teenage children, parents and professionals working with pre- teens. It tackles issues facing young people in today's world - body image, social media, self-esteem, pressures at school, body changes, peer pressures, life challenges, change, emotions, decision making, finding inner peace, finding happiness, living a healthy life. It is written in the form of an experiential, interactive book, with suggested guided visualisations, breathing exercises, reflective questions and space to journal to expand inner awareness. The book has a focus on emotional intelligence. The aim of this work is a resource for parents, teachers, counsellors or anyone working alongside and helping children in pre-teen years moving towards adolescence. It can be used as a self - help resource for older children. Discussion of the themes and topics in a circle time experience would help to enhance the messages held in the story. It can also be given as stand-alone chapters and does not have to be used as a whole story. The aim is for it to be used in a versatile and creative way. The creative visualizations and mindfulness exercises work well if facilitated and read aloud for the children so they can enjoy the process. Some other exercises require some written or art resources. This resource is designed to be used in your own way as you know your child best. The book is the result of over 20 years experience working with vulnerable young people and adults in therapy, educational and other agency settings. I started out my career working with children who were in care, were homeless or had faced adverse conditions and backgrounds on many levels. What I saw, was that despite tumultuous beginnings, from the helpful relationships they built with therapists, teachers, support workers and peers they started to form a better relationship with themselves. I saw miraculous and memorable changes happen in the lives of these adolescents. I also draw on my experiences working with a variety of modalities and theory in therapy and an exploration of ancient philosophical approaches. I have endeavored to weave this together in the Earth Life Warrior story about two young people on a journey of learning into the art of living in a healthy balanced way. I intend for this book to be a simple and beautiful reminder to all children of how truly special they are and what potential they hold within them purely at a soul level and essence of themselves. This is beyond their environment, before their learned development and literally at the core of who they are. I believe we need to facilitate this type of learning for children which encourages them to reflect, be able to sit with silence, to find and draw on inner resources and not limit their imaginations. The world is changing, I believe the next generation of children have answers to world problems and need to develop a capacity to tune into themselves at a more intrinsic level, to increase their creativity and imagination and most of all their capacity to replenish and restore themselves through their life journey. This book celebrates the uniqueness and gentle balance of difference within each of us. Targeted to grade 4 - 6 students (Age 8 to 11 years) before the transition stage into secondary school and into adolescence. The objective of the book is to facilitate creativity and imagination to develop coping skills, resilience and positive thinking in children in preparation for teenage years. The aim is to plant ideas for coping skills and allowing children to tap into their soul essence or higher-level thinking, which can help them in later life in times of change, emotional difficulty and situations that may cause self-doubt. This is for young people growing up in the world today - these are the universal secrets to goal getting, happiness and best choices
