A Scottish family is selected by a disgruntled group of English Officers determined to overthrow the king. They accept the role and go to Canada where John Mackenzie takes command of a Scottish battalion in Quebec. It is selected to start the rebellion. He is removed a its commander as it is sent to fight the American uprising. However, the plan is discovered and they slip into the American colonies for safety.
