Publisher Description:
"No country on Earth that participated in the atrocities of the transatlantic slave trade has ever meaningfully atoned for these horrific acts. The United States of America - 'the land of the free and home of the brave' - will be the first. We have all heard the universal expression, 'Education is the key, ' and indeed it is. The whole world recognizes that the most effective solution to reducing poverty and crime is to increase education. This brief publication outlines, in simple terms, the basic tenets and principles supporting the U.S. African American Restoration Act." -Proposed U.S. Federal legislation authored by Isaias Gamboa. The purpose of this publication is to educate and inspire a grassroots effort to enact this historic legislation, which will entitle African Americans - without prejudice, to unencumbered post-secondary federal education entitlements. This is not a new idea, but one whose time has come. The United States of America, while self-identifying as the 'leader of the free world, ' still carries the moral burden of its original sin - slavery. Even today, many African Americans are treated like second class citizens. In November of 2016, the Republican party elected Donald J. Trump - a man whose unapologetic racism towards Blacks has been well documented - to be our 45th president. In an expression of their profound disapproval, 92-percent of African Americans voted against him. Still, Trump emerged victorious. It is now clearer than ever that American Blacks can no longer rely solely on any political party or special interest group to effectively defend and represent their interests. We must educate ourselves and our descendants in order to escape the chains that still bind us. It is time for African Americans, like the Hebrews of Egypt, to rise up and enter the Promised Land."
