| Publisher Description: Shortly after the end of hostilities in WWII, a new existential threat to America, apparently focused on the Western States, California in particular, began to emerge. Over the years, its form and substance began to coalesce into a coherent and recognizable threat. It soon became apparent that certain enemies of the United States were developing strategies to inflict significant damage to America's infrastructure, institutions, and business and business organizations. Throughout the postwar years, there developed low level but persistent attacks on the military and law enforcement. The theory apparently being that disruptions to those institutions would eventually lead to the decline and disruption of American society in general, resulting in its inevitable collapse into chaos and anarchy. If that occurs, freedom will die and domestic and foreign corruption will triumph. Prior to NineEleven, America failed to fully recognize and appreciate the dangers it faces. Identification and coordinated elimination of the multitude of threats was virtually non existent. The FBI under J. Edgar Hoover, mistakenly considered communism the primary threat, and marshaled the nation's considerable resources to oppose that threat. To this day, the United States continues its costly and ineffective defense against those whose sole mission is to conquer, rule, and destroy. Without effective countermeasures, we will meet our Armageddon face to face, and the forces of evil will make Dante's inferno seem like a Sunday afternoon picnic in the park. |
