Publisher Description:
Following the success of the two models of Velociraptor Drones at the Battle of Monitor Pass, it was realized that a third model, the Velociraptor A1C, was needed and put into production as soon as the system allowed. It would essentially be the A1B modified to emulate Tomahawk cruise missiles. Like the Tomahawk, it would be a 'set and forget' computer-guided missile capable of 'stand off' launch hundreds of miles from the intended target. Missiles could be launched in the general direction of the intended target, or put in a 'holding' pattern, and then targeted by instructions sent to the onboard missile computer from a remote control. Typically, due to size and other limitations, the drone A1C weapon platform would be a tactical, as opposed to strategic, weapon. Essentially, modification of Velociraptors A A and A1B to A1Cs, was as simple as exchanging modular computers. A fourth model, the A1D, was also created and immediately went into production and distribution to the field. The A1D was an A1B Attack Drone modified to allow the engine and propeller to rotate upward just enough to allow the drone to 'hover'. This gives the ability to stand off from the target and remain stationary while firing, thereby creating a stable weapon platform with the benefits that it provides. Transitioning from forward to stationary flight and vice versa takes mere seconds, giving the A1D a tremendous advantage in dogfights.
