Contributor Bio(s): Lerner, Max: - Max Lerner (1902-1992) was distinguished professor at the Graduate School of Human Behavior, United States International University at San Diego. He was also a syndicated columnist for the Los Angeles Times Syndicateand the New York Post. Schmuhl, Robert: -Robert Schmuhl is Walter H. Annenberg-Edmund P. Joyce Chair in American Studies and Journalism at the University of Notre Dame, where he is also chairperson of the department of American Studies and director of the John W. Gallivan Program in Journalism, Ethics, and Democracy. He is editor of Transaction's collection of Max Lerner's essays, Magisterial Imagination: Six Masters of Human Sciences. Among Schmuhl's other books are Statecraft and Stagecraft, Demanding Democracy, and The Responsibilities of Journalism. |
