Publisher Description:
Paul Ferroll's first wife, Anne, was an evil bully of a woman, prone to abusing servants in the worst way you can imagine. Fitting with her vile nature, a servant or a neighbor or someone murdered her in her sleep. (It could have been anyone, you know. The window was wide open.) And who'd have thought poor Paul Ferroll would've married again so soon. . . ? A delightfully engaging classic by Caroline Clive. (Jacketless library hardcover.)

Contributor Bio(s): Clive, Caroline: - "Caroline Clive, AKA Caroline Wigley Clive (1801 - 1872) was an English writer born Caroline Meysey-Wigley in Brompton Grove, London. Caroline was the daughter of Edmund Mersey-Wigley, of Shakenhurst, Worcestershire and in 1840 was married to Rev. Archer Clive. Mrs. Clive was a confirmed invalid for some years previous to her death, which was the result of an accident, her dress having caught fire while she was writing in her boudoir at Whitfield, Herefordshire. Her works were all published anonymously."
