Contributor Bio(s): Stout, James W.: - James W. Stout, MD, MPH, FAAP is a professor of pediatrics and adjunct professor of health services at the University of Washington (UW), where he provides clinical care and conduct research. Since 1994, he has practiced general pediatrics with a focus on asthma care at Odessa Brown Children's Clinic, a satellite of Seattle Children's Hospital. He has also served as attending physician at the University of Washington Medical Center's Newborn Nursery for over 20 years. he founded and direct a multidisciplinary group at the University of Washington known as Interactive Medical Training Resources (iMTR), which develops, evaluates, and delivers online resources to improve clinical practice for specifically targeted health issues. Since 2009, he has led the delivery of Spirometry 360, the flagship program of iMTR, a multi-component, interactive, online training and feedback program targeting primary care. Spirometry 360 has trained clinicians in over 300 practices domestically and in 10 countries outside of the United States.

Dr. Stout has served as principal investigator or co-investigator on many externally funded projects over the last 24 years, primarily focused on reducing health disparities by improving health care delivery. Currently, he is PI for a PCORI-funded project called Guidelines-to-Practice (G2P), with the aim of reducing asthma health disparities through a community health worker model integrated with primary care. He also collaborates with a computer science engineering (CSE) group at UW developing a smart phone-based spirometer app, known as SpiroSmart, for remote monitoring of lung function. Working with the same group, he is also a co-inventor of BiliCam, a smart phone app that estimates a bilirubin level from a digital photo. He is a member of the International Primary Care Respiratory Group (IPCRG). Through this organization, he is an investigator for an international implementation study funded by the European Commission known as Fresh Air H2020. This project is studying the implementation of several interventions targeting different respiratory problems throughout the life course, in four low- or middle-income countries.
Van Hook, Kristin: - Kristin Van Hook, MD, MPH currently serves as a Staff Pediatric Pulmonologist at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. A graduate of Tulane University and Louisiana State University School of Medicine, Dr. Van Hook completed her pediatrics training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and her fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Texas Children's Hospital. Prior to coming to Ochsner, she worked at Nemours Children's Clinic in Pensacola, Florida, serving as the chair of the Department of Pediatric Pulmonology and as the cystic fibrosis center director from 2006 to 2011. She is active in numerous local and national nonprofit and professional organizations. She is married to Dr Brian Moore, and they have twin sons.
Brooks, Lee J.: - Lee J. Brooks, MD, FAAP is a clinical professor of pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, and attending physician in the Division of Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Following his fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Boston Children's Hospital/Harvard University, Dr. Brooks served on the faculty of Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital/Case Western Reserve University, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and Kosair Children's Hospital/University of Louisville before joining CHOP. He is Board certified in pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology, and sleep medicine.
Dr. Brooks has served on national committees convened by the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on topics relating to children's lung health and sleep and its disorders. His research interests include the relationships between sleep, sleep apnea, and metabolic function; narcolepsy and restless leg syndrome; and the relationship between sleep and pain. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, and book chapters. He is active as a teacher and has spoken on pediatric sleep topics around the world including Canada, Mexico, and China. In 2017 he was awarded the Samuel T. Kuna Award for Excellence in Research Mentorship by the University of Pennsylvania.Cataletto, Mary E.: - Mary E. Cataletto, MD, MMM, FAAP, FCCP is Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Stony Brook University School of Medicine and Associate Director of Pediatric Sleep Medicine at the NYU-Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York. She completed her fellowship training in pulmonary physiology and critical care pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York and received her Master's in Medical Management from the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In addition to her clinical practice and research interests, Dr. Cataletto is editor in chief of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology and Pulmonology, a premier international publication in her subspecialty. She is well published and has been an invited speaker at both national and international conferences on topics related to respiratory health in children.

Hutchison, Lisa H.: - Lisa H. Hutchison, MD, FAAP, FACR has been a practicing pediatric radiologist for more than 20 years, and is known for her expertise in education. She is a fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Radiology. Dr. Hutchison has authored more than 200 scholarly works and presented at numerous national and international meetings, for which she has received over 50 awards. She served as editor for several journals, including the American Journal of Roentgenology and the American Journal of Neuroradiology. Further, she chaired Pediatric Radiology committees for the American Board of Radiology, and is currently an editor for Caffey's textbook of Pediatric Radiology.

Dr. Hutchison completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Tennessee, her medical degree at Meharry Medical College, her diagnostic radiology residency at Wake Forest University, and her pediatric radiology fellowship at Children's National Medical Center. She achieved the appointments of Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern, Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University, and Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). While at UMKC, Dr. Hutchison served as Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Director, Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program Director, and Academic Chair for the Department of Radiology. Though she continues to practice pediatric radiology at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Kansas, Dr. Hutchison considers her greatest achievements to be her marriage to her husband, Barry, and raising her children.
Schechter, Michael S.: - Michael S. Schechter, MD, MPH, FAAP is professor and chief of the Division of Pulmonary Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University, and Director of the VCU Cystic Fibrosis Center and the CHOR Community Asthma Program.

Dr. Schechter's research has been primarily concerned with environmental and sociodemographic influences as well as the impact of treatment variations on outcomes in Cystic Fibrosis; his investigative work has primarily involved secondary database analyses. He has also worked with the CF Foundation on fostering methods to improve the quality of care and outcomes for children with CF, and has participated in projects to improve the care of children with other chronic conditions such as spina bifida, inflammatory bowel disease, sickle cell disease, and asthma.

Dr. Schechter has previously been on the faculty of Wake Forest University, Brown University, and Emory University. He has served on numerous committees of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Thoracic Society, and American Academy of Pediatrics, and is past chair of the AAP Section on Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine.Stokes, Dennis C.: - Dennis C. Stokes, MD, MPH, FAAP was St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Professor of Pediatrics (University of Tennessee Health Science Center) and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and Director of the Pediatric Pulmonology fellowship from 2007-16. He has been Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center Director at the University of Tennessee/Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, Children's Hospital at Dartmouth, and Vanderbilt Monroe Carroll Children's Hospital.

Dr. Stokes is a graduate of Wabash College in Indiana and received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and his pulmonary fellowship at Children's Hospital Boston. His MPH in Epidemiology is from Indiana University. He is currently board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology and previously board certified in Critical Care.

Dr. Stokes has divided his career between patient care, teaching, and research. He has participated in multiple clinical trials in CF beginning in 1990 and was on the inaugural Advisory Board of the Epidemiologic Study of Cystic Fibrosis (ESCF). He has served as chair of the Publications and Presentations Committee of the CFF Therapeutic Development Network (TDN) and Chair of the Scientific Assembly on Pediatrics and Board Member of the American Thoracic Society, as well as the AAP Executive Committee on Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine. He was co-principal investigator for the CHAMP (Changing High Risk Asthma in Memphis Thru Partnership) CMS Innovation Award. His primary clinical and research interests have included cystic fibrosis, asthma, pulmonary infections in the immunocompromised host, and pulmonary complications of childhood cancer therapy.
Dozor, Allen J.: - Allen J. Dozor, MD, FCCP, FAAP has been Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy, Immunology, and Sleep Medicine at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center since 1985. He is Professor of Pediatrics and Clinical Public Health at New York Medical College. He is Director of the Armond V. Mascia, MD Cystic Fibrosis Center, and Associate Physician-In-Chief at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital. He is Program Director of the Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology, and Director of the Children's Environmental Health Center of the Hudson Valley (www.childrensenvironment.org).

Dr. Dozor is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology.

Dr. Dozor divides his time between patient care, teaching, and research. He has participated as a principal investigator or co-investigator in dozens of clinical trials and studies. His current areas of research include asthma, cystic fibrosis, and respiratory physiology, with a particular focus on environment and respiratory disease in children. He edited a textbook on pediatric pulmonology (Primary Pediatric Pulmonology, Blackwell Publishing) designed for primary care providers, and published a guidebook for families of children with asthma and allergies (The Asthma and Allergy Action Plan for Kids, Simon and Schuster).
