Publisher Description: On Wing, the first published work of fiction by the Slovak poet-philosopher Robert Gal, is a constellation of hundreds of aphorisms, dreams, anecdotes, and inquiries, all written in a restless, searching, "improvisational" prose whose techniques reflect those of Bernhard, Nietzsche, and Kierkegaard, not to mention the saxophonist and composer John Zorn, who makes a brief cameo as a character. |
Contributor Bio(s): Gal, Robert: - Robert Gal was born in 1968 in Bratislava, Slovakia, and, after a period of study and itinerancy in New York, Jerusalem, and Berlin, currently resides in Prague. He is the author of several books of aphorisms and philosophical fragments, one of which, Signs & Symptoms, is available in English translation. On Wing, the author's first work of fiction, was published in 2015 by Dalkey Archive Press. A new translation of his book Agnomia will publish in 2017. |
