Publisher Description:
Tustin is said to be a bit of calm in the storm that is the robust Southern California lifestyle. Just 60 years ago, Tustin was still primarily a family-farming community known for growing citrus crops and hosting a military base with two of the world's largest wooden blimp hangars. Residents had to drive to neighboring towns to do serious shopping.
Oh, how things have changed Those farms have been converted to residential tracts. The now-closed base is being redeveloped into a booming new community of residences, retail and industry and residents have no lack of local establishments for shopping and dining.
Our downtown "Old Town" business district is a collection of late-eighteen hundred and early-nineteen hundred buildings with newer infill added here and there. On nearby streets, lovingly restored Victorian mansions sit beside carefully maintained bungalows, all framed with majestic oaks and sycamores.
