I am a British born Bengali girl bought up in a standard desi household shared by my mum, dad and 6 siblings. We have quite a typical set up of a large family and dad being a Restaurateur/property developer/mosque chairman and generally a local community man not to mention a Haji. Mum is a house wife and as you would expect we had quite a strict Bengali upbringing. It went somewhat like this; school, home, pray, eat, attend mosque, a little TV then back to bed and do it all over again. Going out with friends, having a mobile phone, going on school trips were all things that were usually out of the question and would require lengthy mediation before my parents would even consider. This is where my story begins......
