Contributor Bio(s): Haddon, A. C.: - Alfred Cort Haddon (1855-1940) was one of Britain's most important anthropologists and ethnologists. He founded the school of anthropology at the University of Cambridge, and served as president of the following organizations: Section H (Anthropology) in the British Association meetings of 1902 and 1905; the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland; the Folk Lore Society; and the Cambridge Antiquarian Society. He was also an elected Fellow of the Royal Society. Apart from his numerous books, Haddon also contributed several articles to the Encyclopędia Britannica, the Dictionary of National Biography, and Hastings's Encyclopaedia of Religion and Ethics. |
