Publisher Description:
My name is Kay Bey, also known as DaButtonPusha. I spent twenty-one years of my life involved in the creation of hip-hop and indie music. I spent more than half of that time being actively involved in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, local hip-hop/indie From the moment I stepped onto the scene, I noticed some things I felt the scene needed to improve upon. It was only after I became a full-fledged active member of the indie scene as a hip-hop/indie artist-one who was creating, pushing, promoting and performing my own music, did I discover the depths of the ills on the indie music scene and its artists. After about five years of being a part of the scene, I decided that simply being an artist was not good enough, so I changed my mission. My mission became not only to be an artist, but also to be an artist that made a positive impact on the entire Pittsburgh hip-hop/indie music scene. When I began this journey, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I did have a clear goal-do for other hip-hop artists what people were unwilling to do for me: build, show love and show support to as many artists as I could and show interest in what they were building.By the end of my journey, I had created several projects: Pittsburgh's longest running live hip-hop showcase called The Hip-Hop Buffet Series; a seven year run of a TV showcase for hip-hop/indie artists called The Ripple Effect, which reached far past Pittsburgh, airing in up to 400,000 homes in the DMV area; two other indie artist TV shows that ran for three years; and an on line TV network called JPBTv.com, which provided various different internet based, internationally viewed showcases for indie artists such as the Go Live Tv Hour, Underground Beast Radio Show and more. I accomplished all of this with little or no help.I disbanded my company, JPB, INC., in 2017. Although my focus has changed some, I-DaButtonPusha-am still actively building with and for independent artists; currently I own a studio and a new media company called Grind City Media, LLC.I am writing this book for encouragement to anyone who wishes to be building in the entertainment field or any other related field and may lack the resources or guidance to do so.I approached Da Building Process much like how people construct a road. This is simply how I did it; I trust it helps someone else.
